Where designers + builders come together

Prenvalley Builders is a full-service design & build company with a talented group of design professionals, construction managers & builders.

Our design team IS our build team, allowing us to incorporate feedback from construction into design, maximizing quality, building performance, and material / labor efficiency. This feedback is frequently lost in the traditional build process, where the designer doesn't collaborate with the builder leading to mistakes and oversights that compromise quality, efficiency, energy performance and the project budget.

The highest quality, most cost-effective buildings are a result of detailed planning and communication between the owner, designer and builder.

Prenvalley Builders offers this synergy, pairing it with our customer’s vision, producing exceptional results.

The team at Prenvalley Builders is passionate about unique buildings that will stand the test of time thanks to their character, craftsmanship, and energy performance. Additionally, we believe that designers & builders have a responsibility to act as stewards of the environment by minimizing material use, selecting responsibly sourced materials, and recycling job-site waste whenever possible. These are challenging goals in the ultra-competitive construction industry, but we believe we need not ignore environmental stewardship to remain competitive.

Meet the Team

Phil Daughton

OWNER AND SALES DIRECTOR

Phil founded Prenvalley Builders in January 2020 with a vision to create a construction company built on the principles of passion, integrity, and craftsmanship. With a dual degree in Construction Management and Engineering from Syracuse University and extensive experience working with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, custom-home builders, and commercial construction companies, Phil is committed to fostering a collaborative work environment that prioritizes high-quality work and exceptional client experiences. By surrounding himself with talented, driven, and dedicated team members, Phil believes that a positive work environment translates to a better outcome for all parties involved. When not focused on building success, Phil enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring new restaurants and breweries.

James Priester

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER AND ENGINEER

James has called Colorado home for nearly two decades, after relocating from rural Illinois for his education. With a BSCE from UC Boulder, James has dedicated himself to the design-build industry, where he applies his skills as a licensed Professional Engineer in both Colorado and Illinois. As our lead designer, James partners with Phil to create comprehensive architectural drawings that meet our clients' unique needs. With experience spanning from large-scale commercial projects to residential builds, James brings a wealth of knowledge to every design he crafts. Outside of the office, James can be found tackling Colorado's iconic 14ers or exploring alpine lakes on backpacking trips.

Stephan Rupp

Stephan Rupp

PROJECT MANAGER

Steve's passion for construction was instilled in him by his father, a skilled mason and carpenter. Growing up, he spent countless hours learning the trade and honing his skills. Inspired by the resourcefulness of MacGyver, Steve developed a creative problem-solving approach that serves him well in his work. After earning his degree in Business and Tourism and gaining experience in the hospitality industry, Steve returned to his first love - construction - by helping a friend with their company. This led him to relocate to Colorado, where he joined our team as a carpenter and Project Manager for our Central and East Denver projects. When he's not building structures, Steve finds solace in the mountains and loves spending time in the great outdoors.

Paul Smith

LEAD CARPENTER

Paul, a self-taught carpenter with a global perspective, brings his expertise to our team after relocating from the Midwest to Colorado. Born in Manchester, England, Paul moved to Indiana at a young age and graduated with a BS in Geography and Urban Transportation. His attention to detail and passion for craftsmanship led him to pursue construction projects, including garden arbors and limestone hardscaping in Bloomington. Paul founded his own high-end finishing company in Indiana before joining us as our Lead Carpenter in 2021. When not building structures, Paul is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys cycling, running, and hiking in Boulder's beautiful surroundings.

Laura Gallant

PROJECT COORDINATOR

Laura is the ultimate multi-tasker at our company, bringing a unique blend of skills and experience to her role. While she may not have a traditional construction background, Laura's passion for process and procedure was honed during her studies in Culinary Arts. Her varied career path, which has included roles in baking, solar operations, and commercial HVAC coordination, has prepared her well for the diverse responsibilities she takes on here. As our go-to person for administrative tasks, including accounting, client coordination, permitting and finish selection, Laura is always willing to lend a hand. When she's not keeping our team organized, Laura loves to cook for friends and family, attend concerts at Colorado's vibrant music venues, and explore the state's many cultural attractions.

Bret Bracey

PROJECT MANAGER

Bret has spent over a decade honing his skills in various industries, but his true passions have always been real estate, home improvement, and building science. With a dual degree in Finance and Business Administration, Bret's early career took him to senior living facilities, where he managed independent, assisted, and memory care communities. Meanwhile, he was quietly building his own real estate portfolio, with a focus on investing and renovating properties. After collaborating with Phil on his own backyard ADU project (featured in our gallery!), Bret brought his expertise to our team as a Project Manager for North and West Denver projects. A self-proclaimed enthusiast of home improvement TV shows and books, Bret stays up-to-date on the latest building techniques and trends. When not working on construction projects or watching The Build Show or This Old House, Bret can be found enjoying Colorado's great outdoors through camping, hiking, biking, skiing, or sharing laughs with friends over board games.
